RIBA Sterling Prize shortlisted 2024
Wraxall Yard is a not-for-profit organisation established to provide family holiday accommodation, rural experiences and education to people, including those with disabilities.
We carried out Embodied and Whole Life Carbon Calculations for the project. As it’s based in the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the clients were keen to be as sympathetic as possible and reduce the CO2 impact of the project.
The development features a livestock barn and workshop for guests to get involved in farming and wildlife activities. There is also a community space for larger gatherings, classes, meetings and meals.
The entire site is single-storey and step-free, so that every visitor has the same experiences available to them, designers paid particular attention to avoid any features that feel clinical, while also ensuring that guests’ safety and comfort is a priority.
