The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association Redbridge Training Facility

The new Guide Dogs Redbridge Training Facility offers advanced training environments for both dogs and individuals with sight loss. It includes specialised areas for dog care, as well as training rooms for people with visual impairments, a vet consultation room, and supported care units.

Sustainability is a core principle of the facility, which aligns with Guide Dogs’ commitment to achieving zero carbon emissions. The building incorporates low-energy LED lighting, solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and electric vehicle charging points. The design also emphasizes biodiversity and sustainability.

As the Sustainable Consultant for the project, we provided a comprehensive range of services, including BREEAM assessment, life cycle assessments, and energy calculations. We also fulfilled GLA requirements with a Whole Life Carbon Assessment, Circular Economy considerations, and operational energy calculations based on TM54.

The successful achievement of BREEAM Excellent for the Redbridge Centre reflects Guide Dogs dedication to creating sustainable, healthy, and efficient spaces for staff, service users, and dogs in training.
