The “Fusion” building is a state-of-the-art higher education facility focused on sustainability, blending traditional lecture halls with flexible learning spaces.
We assisted the University in achieving ambitious sustainability goals, including a BREEAM Excellent rating of 74% and an EPC rating of “A”, along with a 25% annual contribution from low or zero carbon energy sources.
Key sustainable features include a 45,000-litre rainwater harvesting system, a ground source heat pump with a CHP unit, and a rooftop equipped for solar PV and rainwater collection. The building was positioned on hard landscaping to reduce ecological impact and replaced a car park to encourage sustainable transport.
Utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM), we ensured an integrated design while providing a BREEAM Accredited Professional to maximize the score effectively.
