Our work on HMP Maidstone included supporting the successful delivery of a new sports hall located within an operational category C prison.
The project saw the demolition of the prison’s existing swimming pool and associated building and the construction of a sports hall with gyms, courts, shower rooms, several offices and associated facilities.
We worked closely with the main contractor in both the BREEAM Assessor and an in-depth BREEAM AP role. These second of these goes far beyond a basic BREEAM service and focuses on hand-holding the team at every stage of the project.
The sustainability performance was maximised despite site constraints and planning requirements. A high degree of collaboration with the project team was instrumental in the delivery of BREEAM Excellent on the final building, and highlighted the critical expertise used in a highly regulated environment.
