SCS’s work on the HMP Guys Marsh project extends to both the development of the new T60 houseblock (houseblock 1) and accompanying workshop located within an active Category C prison in Dorset.
First brought to feasibility through the Government’s 10,000 prison place increase in 2019, HMPPS identified HMP Guys Marsh as key building to provide an additional circa 120 beds to the existing building.
As part of the prison’s expansion, the project is also providing additional ancillary works, including a new workshop located within the site.
SCS led the project to BREEAM Excellent certifications with the minimum of fuss.
SCS also drove the approach to the zero carbon embodied carbon modelling. Studies were done at multiple stages to assist the team with minimizing the carbon impact.
