The £7.9 million Chellaram Sports Complex, developed for Clifton College by the construction firm Speller Metcalfe, has successfully replaced the former sports dome, occupying the same footprint on the campus. This state-of-the-art indoor sports facility has been expertly designed to cater to a wide range of athletic activities, featuring a versatile multi-purpose floor that can accommodate three netball courts, three tennis courts, 12 badminton courts, three basketball courts, and 10 cricket lanes.
In addition to these traditional court spaces, the complex also boasts a cutting-edge bouldering wall, providing an exciting climbing experience for enthusiasts. For field sports, there is an indoor hockey pitch and allocated space for touch rugby, ensuring that athletes can train and compete in various disciplines year-round. The facility is further equipped with several table tennis tables, adding to its versatility as a comprehensive sports hub.
A cornerstone of the complex’s design is its commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. The sports hall has been constructed to significantly reduce energy consumption, adhering to the latest energy efficiency standards.
