We are delighted that The Chellaram Sports Complex, the state-of-the-art sports facility of Clifton College, has been nominated for the Decarbonisation/Green Project of the Year at the Education Property Awards 2025.

Opened in September 2024, the complex houses an eight-court hall for netball, tennis, basketball, and badminton, among other sports, as well as hospitality and catering facilities.

We acted as the BREEAM assessor, helping the development achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating as well as conducting various other assesment such as a Low Carbon Assessments.

The new building incorporates air source heat pumps that absorb heat from the environment, as well as thermal battery technology to store energy for later reuse. The facility also uses passive ventilation to regulate airflow and temperature within the sports hall.

In a nod to biodiversity, the complex features a wildflower-populated roof, and the site includes native woodland planting and a wildflower meadow, aiming to deliver an 80 per cent biodiversity net gain.
