Blessed Carlo Acutis (BCA) Catholic School is set to transform its educational landscape with a new state-of-the-art building located on the current Bishop Hedley Campus. This ambitious project will consolidate the school’s operations from four separate sites into a single modern facility.
The new building is designed to accommodate 1,125 students, along with 100 full-time equivalent nursery places. It will feature a range of specialist resources, including science laboratories, design and technology workshops, a drama studio, and various sports facilities, all of which will be accessible to students through thoughtful scheduling.
With a budget of £52 million, the all-through school, catering to ages 3 to 16, aims to achieve net-zero carbon in operation. Construction, led by Willmott Dixon, began in October 2024, and the first phase is expected to open later this year, with the entire project slated for completion by the summer of 2027.
The design is targeting a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating for sustainability, featuring rooftop solar arrays to support its environmentally friendly goals.
