Dulwich College Junior and Lower School

This project consists of a refurbishment of two existing buildings alongside a new-build construction to create a new Junior and Lower School with an aspiration to be net zero carbon in both construction and operational energy.

The proposal provides a new school library, technology laboratory, school hall for the youngest pupils and outdoor learning pavilion with a dedicated wellness centre for the entire campus.

The design emphasis on the building’s circulation areas, providing a wider variety of places for pupils and teachers.

Due to the nature of the project having a mix of refurbishment and new construction elements, SCS worked with the design team and client to guide them in the best way to deliver BREEAM.

After considering assessing each part of the project separately, it was agreed that the most efficient approach was a Bespoke assessment where the entire project is assessed under the same assessment.
