In the heart of London’s thriving Canary Wharf, SCS assisted on Plot H of Wood Wharf with Energy Modelling, Zero Carbon and BREEAM certification services. The plot comprises 143 residential units, four retail units, healthcare facilities, a two-form primary school, and a gym.
Despite facing challenges related to assessments due to the integration within a larger development framework, our team proactively revisited and refined the sustainable aspects of the design at every phase. This iterative approach allowed us to help the client seamlessly meet their targets while avoiding any unnecessary financial burdens.
Targets included a challenging London Plan energy target, an exemplar EPC target, a balance energy strategy and BREEAM Excellent rating for all phases. Ecology and biodiversity was also markedly improved.
Furthermore, a Whole Life Carbon Material Life Cycle Analysis was conducted on the entire development, informing a strategy for reducing embodied carbon in materials that will also influence all future Canary Wharf Contractor developments.
