It was a great honor and privilege to be invited to attend a specially arranged BREEAM Assessor Focus Group in London yesterday.

The meeting was chaired by the BRE and discussed ways of improving the schemes. There was also a sneak preview of the new BREEAM Platform that will be coming on line later in 2024 year. What was so impressive was the open nature of the debate and the willingness of the BRE to listen to the people who use their tools on a daily basis.

For a scheme that has been around for over 30 years, they are still striving to keep ahead of the industry and set sustainability standards that we should all aspire to.

At a time when there seems to be an increasing focus on operational energy, it was empowering and encouraging to hear that positive steps are being made by the BRE and its assessors to ensure that holistic sustainability will be at the heart of construction in the years ahead.
